Archaeological field studies are one of the important research branches of geophysics. Geophysical studies, which started after the second half of the 1940s, are the most frequently used technique in the examination of archaeological sites today. With the help of various geophysical techniques (magnetic, georadar, electrical resistivity tomography, seismic tomography, (Vp-Vs), natural voltage, induced polarization tomography), archaeological context is visualized in detail and interpretatively with studies examining archaeological sites. Especially with three-dimensional imaging studies, archaeological context consisting of structures at different depths can be defined holistically. By examining the archaeological context using integrated geophysical techniques, the context can be defined in terms of physical properties, providing archaeologists with an important infrastructure before excavation.

Archaeoseismology studies aim to collect data on past earthquakes in archaeological sites, and thus determine whether an archaeological site has been subjected to an earthquake. Potential archaeological targets in the study areas are sought through archaeological surface surveys. The identified targets are determined with the help of rescue excavations and archaeological drillings.
